MODIFIED OPERATIONS IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 (NOVEL CORONAVIRUS)

 

STUMPHOUSE MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK, SERTOMA DISC GOLF COURSE AND TENNIS PICKLE BALL COURTS AT CITY PARK TO RE-OPEN MAY 8.

The following is the tentative re-opening for city facilities.  Some are still tentative depending on direction from the Governor/Supreme Court/other state agencies.

 

May 8- Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park

May 8- Sertoma Park Disc Golf Course. City Park tennis courts and pickle ball courts

May 15- Sertoma Fields and  playgrounds

May 30- Gyms, basketball courts, other close contact sporting areas, and all other rec facilities open

June 1- Open all to recreational sports

June 15- Open all offices back to the public.

June 15- Depot and Meeting House reopen

Beginning Friday, a portion of the city parking lot will be barricaded off for outdoor seating/dining.

Hand washing stations will be in place at Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park, Sertoma Park, and the Tennis Courts.

Convenience Fees Waived During Emergency

Business offices will continue to be closed during this emergency.  Utility bill payments may made online, at www.cityofwalhalla.com, by automated phone system, or in the City Hall drop box.  There will be no service discounts, non-payment fees charged, or late payment penalty for the month of April.  Convenience fees for paying by phone are waived.  Requests for new utility service, new water taps, or service discontinuance may be made via email walhallaoffice@gmail.com. All forms, with instructions are available on the City’s website www.cityofwalhalla.com. WALHALLA DECLARES A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND ORDER CLOSURES

(Walhalla, SC) APRIL 2, 2020.  The City of Walhalla declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus).  This is to continue to reduce the risk of transmission and for the general well-being of the public and city employees.

This emergency declaration will allow City Council to meet remotely via webinar or teleconference for the next 61 days or until the emergency is declared over.

In addition to the previously closed city facilities, the following are now closed:

 

Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park (including Stumphouse Tunnel and Issaqueena Falls)

Sertoma Field-with the exception of the walking trail, provided social distance is maintained and no groups over 3 persons.   Disc golf course is also closed.

Avondale Ball Field

Pony League Field (N. Church St)

City Playgrounds and all athletic facilities

Memorial Stadium (includes stands and field)

 

The Fire Department will temporarily suspend rental inspections for new water contracts.  Inspections will resume and rentals with new water contracts will be inspected once the emergency is over.

Deadlines for payment of new business license and business license renewals are deferred without penalty until June 1, 2020.

 

Hospitality Taxes and Accommodations Taxes from March, April and May 2020 will be due in one lump sum payment on June 20, 2020.

Please follow the Governor’s Order of no more than 3 people congregating at one time.

(Walhalla, SC) March 25, 2020.  All Park and Recreation scheduled activities are cancelled/postponed until April 30, 2020.  Activities will be reassessed at that time.  All basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts and playgrounds are closed.  Walking Trails and Stumphouse Park remain open.

Activities at the Depot and Old St. John’s Meeting House are cancelled and those buildings are closed until April 30, 2020.

(Walhalla, SC) March 16, 2020. The City of Walhalla will be modifying operations city-wide in response to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus). This is to minimize the risk of transmission and for the general well-being of the public and city employees. The following will take effect immediately and remain until March 31, 2020.

City Hall- Business offices will be closed to the public. Utility bill payments may be made online here, by automated phone system, or in the City Hall drop box. There will be no service disconnects, or non-payment fees charged, for the month of March. Requests for new utility service, new water taps, or service discontinuance may be made via email. Recreation- All games and events have been suspended until April 6, 2020. This is following guidance from the Dixie Youth League. Walhalla City Gym will be closed. Sertoma Field will be open, however, there will be no city sponsored events on the field or disc golf course. Stumphouse Tunnel will remain open, however there will be no city sponsored events. Fees at Stumphouse will be waived until March 31, 2020. Restrooms at both Sertoma and Stumphouse will be closed.

Law Enforcement- Police Department exterior door will be closed until March 31st. – Contact 864-638-5831 for any assistance from Police. (screening questions will be asked to determine best course of action). All non-emergency incidents will be handled over the phone. In instances when there is close contact with an individual suspected of having COVID-19, officers will utilize the PPE kit. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of an individual with COVID-19 or suspected COVID-19.

Judicial (Courts)- Municipal Court exterior door will be closed until March 31st. – Contact 864-638-4341 for any assistance from clerk of court. (screening questions will be asked to determine best course of action)

March court/pretrial dates will be rescheduled to later date.

Fire/Emergency Services- The Fire Department will be closed to any non-essential personnel. Persons needing emergency assistance can dial 911 or ring the doorbell. Firefighters have appropriate PPE to deal with most infectious diseases. Large meetings and gatherings at the FD will be postponed until March 31, 2020. The fire department is working with Prisma Health to prioritize calls for service. Please let the emergency dispatcher know if you have any flu-like symptoms.

Street/Sanitation- Street Department operations will not be affected at this time. Trash pickup will continue under normal schedule.

Depot/St. John Meeting House- There will be no change in operations.
