The Community Development Department’s Planning, Codes and Zoning section is responsible for:
Administration and implementation of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Comprehensive Plan and other relevant ordinances, plans and special projects;
Ensuring compliance with the City of Walhalla Code of Ordinances;
Establishment of development and redevelopment strategies;
Management of the planning and permitting processes; and
Ensuring compliance with the City’s property maintenance code.
Contact the department prior to beginning any of the following:
adding to an existing building (additions) or making structural alterations, including porches;
changing a building or land’s use;
constructing or expanding any new residential, commercial, or industrial structure;
demolishing a building;
finalizing subdivision plats;
installing or changing fencing;
installing or replacing signage.
The department has restarted enforcement of the City’s property maintenance code. Please review the IPMC Self-Inspection Checklist and address any issues found.
Below are the zoning ordinances for the City of Walhalla as well as our forms and applications for zoning, building and business related areas. You may download and fill these out prior to your visit to city hall. All payments or fees must be made at our office as we do not support any payments online or over the phone.
