Walhalla, SC – As we begin a new year, it is a good opportunity to reflect on the City of Walhalla’s accomplishments as we continue to move forward. We have been building a stronger, safer and healthier city and setting up our community for success.
Since 2022, the City of Walhalla has invested — or is in the process of investing — over $30 million into public infrastructure and facilities to improve the quality of life for everyone in our community, many of which are listed below:
2026: Cane Creek Streambank Restoration to prevent erosion and support sewer system: $3.1 million (2025 USDA-NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection grant)
2025 – 2026: New Police Station – $4.25 million (2024 State appropriation)
2024-2026: Sidewalk replacement and repaving of state roads – $1.75 million (2022; 2025 C-Fund appropriations).
2024 – 2026: New Community Center – $5.56 million (2023 State appropriation)
2024 – 2026 (ongoing): Water & Sewer System Upgrades – $11.7 million (includes a City match and 2022 State SCIIP grant).
2022-2025: Stumphouse Mountain Park Upgrades – $1 million (State appropriation)
2022-2024: Water line upgrades – $2.47 million (2022 County passthrough of a federal ARPA grant).
2022-2024: Wanderweg (Walhalla Greenway): $1 million (2021 Appalachian Regional Council grant/city match)
