Attention Walhalla Water Customers:
We are aware that many customers have experienced discoloration issues today. This is a result of an increase in manganese in the raw water. The Walhalla Water Plant implemented a new procedure last year to catch and remedy this, but unfortunately, staff under-corrected and did not catch this instance prior to release. Staff have made the necessary adjustments, and water should be clear within 24 hours. Additional flushing is also being done to speed up the process.
Although manganese can cause discoloration, it is not harmful.
