Walhalla SC – City Clerk Ashley Jones has submitted her resignation to City Council, effective July 3, 2025. Mrs. Jones joined the City of Wahalla in August 2000 and served seventeen years as the Municipal Court’s Clerk before her appointment as City Clerk in October 2018.
“While we are saddened to see Ashley go, we wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” shared Celia Myers, City Administrator. “Her dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated, and she will be missed by all.”
During Jones’ time with the City, she served in various roles, including in the water and recreation departments before becoming the Clerk of Court in 2001 adding on the duties of Associate Judge in 2003. She was appointed the City Clerk in October 2018.
Recent reports suggest that Jones’ departure may be based on concerns over City finances and water system. She has made clear to City officials that this is not accurate.
“We should respect and support her choice, wishing her and her family well. At Mrs. Jones’ request, I am asking that everyone please respect her privacy and not speculate on her private decision,” stated Myers.
The City is in the early stages of seeking a replacement. In the meantime, current staff will be handling her responsibilities with support from the City’s accountant.
