The Planning Department is responsible for administration and implementation of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Comprehensive Plan and other relevant ordinances.

Contact the department prior to beginning any of the following:

adding to an existing building (additions) or making structural alterations;
changing a building or land’s use;
constructing or expanding any new residential, commercial, or industrial structure;
demolishing a building;
subdividing land;
installing or replacing signage.

The department has restarted enforcement of the City’s property maintenance code. Please review the IPMC Self-Inspection Checklist and address any issues found. Please contact the City’s Code Enforcement Officer for questions or concerns.

 

Below are the forms and applications for Planning topics. You may download and complete prior to your visit to the Planning Office. All payments or fees must be made at our office as we do not support any payments online or over the phone. Applications are reviewed within 5 business days after payment is received. If you have any questions please call our office at (864) 638-4343.

Please review the 2027 Deadline Calendar for any request that requires approval by the Planning Commission or Board of Zoning Appeals. Applications for Commission or Board consideration must be submitted by the second Wednesday of each month for the following month’s meeting.
