Walhalla — The City of Walhalla is now issuing building permits for work within City limits. Walhalla City Council recently adopted Ordinance 2023-16 establishing a building official and permitting process; as well as, approved a contract with RCI of SC, Inc. to provide building official and inspection services. Oconee County recently supplied these services on the City’s behalf. Beginning September 25, 2023, the City of Walhalla will officially take over this responsibility. Open permits with the County will continue and will not require a transfer to the City. Any new permits will need to be applied for with the City of Walhalla. The City of Walhalla is grateful to Oconee County for their support to the City and dedication to providing this service. Building permits (Residential, Commercial, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing) may be applied for online at https://www.cityofwalhalla.com/building-codes/. Work performed within City limits continues to require an approved zoning permit and a current business license for contractors. New construction, which includes land grading, will also require a land permit disturbance, also available online.
